Tampa Bay Water is a regional wholesale supplier of drinking water to member governments in Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas Counties. Tampa Bay Water owns and manages a unique and complex water supply system that blends surface water, groundwater, and desalinated seawater to provide clean, high-quality drinking water to nearly 2.4 million people in the Tampa Bay region. The finished blend varies depending on seasonal rainfall and environmental conditions.

Nearly half of Tampa Bay Water’s supply is river water that is treated at the Tampa Bay Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant, which is operated by Veolia Water. Water sources for this facility include the Hillsborough River, Tampa Bypass Canal, and the Alafia River. During rainy times, the facility treats as much surface water as possible, and the surplus water is stored in the 15.5-billion gallon C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir for use during dry times.

The Tampa Bay Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant uses a multi-barrier process to produce clean, high-quality drinking water. It can produce 99 mgd annual average and has a maximum rated capacity of 120 mgd.

Guests must wear flat, close toed shoes/sneakers or work boots which will not slide off your feet. We recommend guests bring hats/sunglasses/sunscreen, and loose fitting athletic type clothing, and bring a drink with a lid, such as bottled water.

The tour is free for FSEA members. If you are not yet a member or need to renew you can sign-up as a non-member and pay the $50 membership fee to attend. This will give you membership for one year.
